Now is the time to begin planning late spring and summer Build Your Own Curriculum (BYOC) work. BYOC ensures that your district curriculum is used with fidelity. It helps align curriculum to state standards. District staff can analyze curriculum and address issues raised in district and state assessments. BYOC makes it easier for planning and delivery of instruction. With BYOC, your district curriculum can be transparent at multiple levels and all students experience the same path, regardless of teacher or building.

Contact Roblyn Melton at rmelton@SMCAA.org for training needs or if you are interested in adding BYOC to your district.

August 2020 eUpdate

BYOC Referral Program

You are our best sales staff.  There is nothing we enjoy more than hearing from a new district that they heard about us from one of our existing clients.  Like any company, continually adding new districts is key to our success.  As such, we would like to reward you, our best sales staff.  For any new district referred by you that joins the BYOC network, we will reduce your district’s next renewal by $250.  There is no limit on the number of districts you can refer.

BYOC the Framework for K-12 Success

BuildYourOwnCurriculum (BYOC) uses technology to bring the teaching—and learning—experience into an evolving documented process that is easy to use, accessible anywhere, and aligned district-wide. BYOC was founded on a belief that curriculum must be of value to teachers. With BYOC, teachers don’t have to recreate curriculum from scratch each year. By simply entering curriculum once, then continuously assessing and improving, educators can save time on curriculum management, enter a process of continuous improvement, and shift focus to their true passion for teaching.

2020 BYOC Annual Users' Group Meeting Resources

We just completed a great BYOC user group series in October.  Many districts joined us as we discussed Curriculum Leadership, Curriculum Management, Reports in BYOC and a Jumpstart for new users.  We have recorded the sessions and they are available at GoToStage. The handouts are available on our BYOC User Group Page. We encourage you to view the recordings and contact rmelton@smcaa.org or Chris.Trina@educationadvanced.com for any questions or additional training.

Whether you've seen us before or are completely new to the product, we invite you to attend one of our upcoming webinars and find out what everyone is talking about.  School Software Group continues to evolve and has grown into a leading Curriculum Management for schools.

Curriculum management is a large undertaking for school districts. Subjects each have their own manuals and each course has specific criteria to be met. Many districts could fill bookcases with their curriculum guides. But in order to find, compare or analyze curriculum, a team of educators would have to dust off the manuals and go through each handbook individually. Short on manpower and wanting to find a more efficient way to organize curriculum, David Miller, Coordinator for Assessment & Library Services in the Pattonville (MO) School District, began looking for alternatives to this rusty, dusty routine. The Pattonville Success Story
