IMPORTANT UPDATE, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: Over the past several years, the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) has heard from school counselors, parents, and students about the barriers students encounter with achieving eligibility for the A+ Scholarship.

On March 5, the Coordinating Board for Higher Education (CBHE) approved the math component of the Pre-ACT as an additional option for meeting A+ eligibility requirements on the same basis as the current provision for the ACT math subscore.

Students must achieve the following scores on the Pre-ACT Math section, depending on cumulative high school grade point average (GPA).

  • Pre-ACT Math Score of 17 or higher AND 2.5 high school GPA or higher
  • Pre-ACT Math Score of 16 or higher AND 2.8 high school GPA or higher
  • Pre-ACT Math Score of 15 or higher AND 3.0 high school GPA or higher

This change goes into effect immediately for the 2024 high school seniors and for all subsequent graduating classes. The change does not impact the existing options for achieving A+ eligibility, including those related to scoring proficient or advanced on math end-of-course exams.
